Most of my day is me constantly running after Matthew. Picking up every crumb, fixing every little toy, wiping every little spill, and always changing his clothes - seriously though, I think I change him at least 10 times a day. Some days, I just leave him in his mess if I think he'll be getting dirty again anyhow.
The other morning when eating breakfast. Matthew insisted on eating at the "big" table with the "big" boys. I tried to get him down several times, but he insisted and finally I just gave up. He'll eat his breakfast on his high chair, but he always ends up climbing up our tall chairs and find a way to eat off of one our plates... and I mean ALWAYS.
I let him sit on top of the table with a bowl of cereal and just watched him at arms length. Those "experts" say that when a toddler is teaching himself to eat, to allow him to make a mess. I wish these "experts" would also suggest a sane way of cleaning up after them as well.
I have to admit though, with Matthew there is seriously never a dull moment. He's either scavenging through the left over food at the table that I'm not quick enough to clear up or taking his diaper off in the backyard only to "take a dump" in the grass. He is always into something, but I love it! It definitely keeps me on my toes.
Testing my patience is an art that my boys have mastered. But after the shock of whatever mess or chaos they've done, I can't help but laugh and just shake my head, I kind of have to. I think most moms will agree with me when I say that the only remedy to a headache that only your child can give you is to laugh along side them.
